Observer Program Information

At this time, we are not accepting international graduates and students unless you have found your own faculty sponsor. The faculty member must email us with your name and their approval.

The Division of Hospital Medicine welcome’s UF students interested in observing one of our faculty members to apply through the following steps:

  1. Send an email of interest to our administrative email: hospitalist-admin@medicine.ufl.edu.
  2. If you have one of our faculty members in mind to observe, please indicate this in your email.
    • PLEASE NOTE: The only faculty eligible in our program are hospitalists, a list of which can be viewed here. For other specialties, please contact the appropriate division.
  3. If you are matched with a faculty sponsor (not guaranteed), we will send you the required documents for the application (see below).
  4. Upon completing these documents and providing the necessary paperwork, your application will be submitted to the Department of Medicine for further review.
  5. Once approved, you will receive an approval email with further information prior to beginning your observership.

Patient Care Observer Information

Requirements:

  1. Form of Government issued ID
  2. HIPAA Certification (UF myTraining)
  3. Signed Security & Confidentiality Agreement
  4. Signed Request to Observer Patient Care form
  5. Signed Patient Care Observation & Health Screening Request

Considerations:

  1. This program is for observing only; applicants will not be performing clinical tasks.
  2. Observer periods can be 60 days at most, per approval period.
  3. Observership renewals may be offered with the completion of a new Patient Care Observation form within a minimum of two weeks prior to the end of approved observer periods.
